PROGRAM INFORMATION:
Youth Division
Welcome to the MYSC Youth Division. MYSC is committed to providing a place for all players. As players go through the Youth Division, a varietyof options are available. The goal of the Youth Division is to provide a fun, safe, stress free environment where upon players can develop a greater love, passion and understanding for the game of soccer. The defining character of the MYSC Youth Division is the emphasis of player development for 3 ½ to 14 year olds. Leagues are played two seasons a year, fall and spring.
Fall season: approximate dates after Labor Day through October
Spring season: approximate dates April through mid-June
Our purpose is to lead and serve our soccer community by achieving successand integrity for the game under confident leadership. At the heart of soccer, we will nurture and protect its future, ensure both a winning mentality as well as provide access to all who wish to get involved in the game.
This is accomplished in the following ways:
- A curriculum focused on developmentally appropriate age group activities
- The coaching staff will be comprised of Academy Staff and trained MYSC volunteer coaches
- Playing Time: Regardless of skill level or abilities, all players are guaranteed 50% playing time. (This policy may be reviewed if there are disciplinary issues.)
- Emphasis of this program is an introduction to the laws of the game, basic soccer skills and increased development of age-appropriate locomotive skills.
U4-U10: The purpose of the MYSC Youth Division is to:
- Have fun in a safe, team environment
- Develop a love and an appreciation for the sport of soccer
- Develop an understanding of soccer rules and how the game is played
- Advance FUNdamental soccer techniques
- Enhance their physical fitness and psychological well being
- Work with licensed and experienced MYSC youth soccer coaches

MYSC Youth Division Programs Descriptions
Pre-Kinder Kickers, Kinder Kickers & Kickers (U4-U7)
These programs allow for a great introduction to soccer and to the MiddletonYahara Soccer Club. Our programs are designed to offer every child a chance to explore the game while having fun. Small teams and developmental rules allow your child to grow at his/her own pace while making new friends and discovering the game.
Player Development Concentration: dribbling, moves, feints/fakes, individual ball possession/control, and shooting/striking the ball.
Academy I, II, III – (U8-U10)
The Academy programs are designed to elevate a player’s love of the game through age and developmentally appropriate games and training. The goal will be to educate and promote modern coaching principles and the MYSC curriculum for players wishing to pursue their success in soccer.
Player Development Concentration: dribbling, moves, feints/fakes, individual ball possession/control, shooting/ball striking, passing, small group tactics
Academy I
- 2 trainings per week (fall & spring) with MYSC Academy Staff Coach and/or Directors
- 8 winter trainings with MYSC Academy Staff Coach and/or Directors
- Approximately 25 games per year (MAYSA leagues and potential for friendly games and/or tournaments)
- MYSC Academy Staff and/or Director will coach most games
- Games will be 6v6 and/or 8v8
- Potential opportunities to train or play with U11 competitive teams
- The goal of this program is to promote player development and to develop future Junior Division Players while providing a smooth transition into the competitive soccer arena.
Academy II
- U8: 6 fall and 6 spring trainings with MYSC Academy Staff and/or Directors
- U9/10: 8 fall and 8 spring trainings with MYSC Academy Staff and/or Directors
- Academy II and III players will be combined for In-house games
- The goal of the Academy II program is to develop technically sound players in and fun and safe learning environment.
Academy III
- Training sessions with volunteer MYSC Coach
- Volunteer MYSC coach shall adhere to MYSC Coaching Curriculum
- Academy II and III players will be combined for In-house games
- The goal of this program is to develop all skillful and passionate players in a fun and safe environment.
MYSC Recreational Academy5th-8th grade players have a choice to play competitive (Competitive Soccer) or recreational soccer. The MYSC Recreational soccer program is designed to provide a casual low cost soccer program. Volunteer Parent Coaches lead these teams through the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association (MAYSA) League. Games are played home and away.
U11-U14: The purpose of the MYSC Recreational Academy is to:
- Learn under the leadership of the MYSC Youth and Recreational Directors
- Further develop a love and an appreciation for the sport of soccer
- Expand in understanding rules of soccer and how the game is played
- Advance existing soccer techniques
- Enhance physical fitness and psychological well being
- Become responsive to working in a team environment
- Continue to play multiple sports as well as soccer
MYSC Team Placement:
Each player must register through our online registration service provider. The placement process will be open to all players with equal consideration given to eachplayer. The MYSC Youth Staff and Administration are responsible for the placement of players onto teams. Player placement criteria includes:
- Grade & birth-date
- Geographical location
- Discretion of the Youth Director and/or Technical Director of Coaching
The club may re-shuffle teams at the end of the fall or spring season, based on the following criteria:
- League logistics
- Age group logistics
- Team logistics
- Adherence to player and team development principles
- Discretion of the Youth Director and/or Technical Director of Coaching
All MYSC coaches will follow a curriculum from entry (age 3) to age 10, and recreational through 14.
"Games"are forums for players to apply ball skills and game awareness. We view this as an additional means of development. The concept of winning and losing a game is not stressed within these age groups.Coaches are trained and encouraged to promote soccer that:
- Is free flowing
- Is coach-guided, not coach-directed
- Demands that all players on the field – regardless of their specified position – participate in defending and attacking
